Look who's won Miss Beds!
June 10, 2009
Glitter, glamour and a whole host of Beds beauties took to the catwalk last weekend to fight for a place in the Miss England final.
The gaggle of gorgeous girls took to the stage at the Miss Beds finale at Bedford Rugby Club on Sunday (June 7).
Each of the lovely ladies had to impress the panel of judges in their evening wear, before performing a cheerleader dance routine and describing their ambitions.
Overall winner and Shefford stunner Anna Watts, 21, said it was "simply fabulous" to receive the Miss Beds crown from last year's winner Hayley Sams.
She said: "I'm so happy, it has been mad and it has not really sunk in yet.
"It has been mental, everyone wants a piece of you. I've loved every minute of it.
"I now just want to get myself out there as much as possible and pursue my modelling career.
Anna won a year's modelling contract with a top agency and will represent Beds in the Miss England final, held on July 20 in London, the winner of which will go on to this year's Miss World final in South Africa.
She added: "Hopefully I can win Miss England, which would be unreal. "There are only 55 girls so there is no reason I can't bring it home for Beds."
Letitia Joseph, 19, from Luton, was a close runner up, with Linslade lovely Robyn Bevan, 17, third.
Letitia said: "I'm overwhelmed right now.
"From this competition I have learned that you should always believe in yourself, regardless of what people think of you, just keep rising your head up high."
Aspiring dance and performing arts student Robyn, said: "I'm feeling fantastic. I love dance, it's my main passion and I've been doing it my whole life.
"I think it's every girls dream to win Miss England."
A special award also went to Emily Grace Batchelor, 18, from Leighton Buzzard who was crowned Miss Charity after raising more than £1,000 for Aspire, which helps rehabilitate people who have suffered spinal cord injuries.
Following a public internet vote, 23-year-old Lutonian Deborah Bodsworth was named Miss Popularity and Biggleswade babe Becky Bennett, 22, was crowned Miss Congeniality.
All of the finalists will get a photoshoot with professional modelling photographers Fresh Academy.
Pictures from the night are now in the Miss Bedfordshire 2009 Gallery.
